Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District, known as AC Transit provides public transportation in Alameda County and Contra Costa County in the Bay Area in California. Connections are available with San Francisco MUNI, San Mateo County Transit District, and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.

  • 6005 retired in 2014 and was sold off in May 2015.[1] It was bought by ABC Companies in Redwood City, CA and stayed there for a while, but it was later sold to a scrap yard.

  • 1 unit (between 300-364) was bought by a private owner at an unknown for an RV conversion, but was destroyed in the Santa Rosa wildfire in October 2017.[12]

It was acquired by Scott Richards/Regional Transit Service in September 2017 and is currently undergoing repairs.

  • 839 was kept by AC Transit until circa 2013. It was likely scrapped.

  • 1 other known unit was repowered with a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA.
  • 1 unit (possibly 1041) was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV. It was spotted multiple times around the East Bay & in San Francisco until about 2013. Its current status is unknown.
  • 1054 was bought by private owner Ron Hook, but traded back to AC Transit around 2004. It was moved off of the property in late 2013 and was most likely scrapped.
  • 1065 was bought by a private owner and converted into an RV. It is currently stored in Hayward, CA as of 2016.
  • 1097-1099 & 1150 were used for BART Express service until circa 1988.
  • 1131, 1132 & 1142 to Transit Systems Unlimited same numbers.
  • 1153 was spotted in Tacoma, WA around 1999, but may have been scrapped shortly after.[15]

  • 1260 was the only unit built in 1983 and was a penalty order due to late arrivals of 1201-1259.
  • Retired in 1997-1998.
  • Many (if not most) units were bought by Transit Sales International.
    • Some units were spotted in Tijuana, Mexico.[16]
  • 1205 and other units were bought by Zachers Auto Salvage in Los Angeles, CA.[17]

  • 1815-1821 were painted in the San Pablo scheme for uses on the 72, 72L & 73/72M routes.
  • 3 units (including 1825) were bought by Scott Richards/Regional Transit Service. They were later sold to Frank's All City Lines. They have all likely been scrapped.[23]
  • 7 known units were bought by Transit Sales International.
    • 1810 was spotted there in 2011.
    • 1816 & 1823 remain there as of 6/10/2015, but are supposed to be eventually scrapped.
  • 1812 was spotted at Autobus Dupont in Quebec, Canada in June 2006.

  • 1901-1905 & 1922 retired by the end of 2013 and left AC Transit property in early 2014.[3]

  • 2103 is preserved by the Pacific Bus Museum.
  • 2115 is in Williams, CA. It's front end was used for Ex-San Diego 517 at the Pacific Bus Museum, but the bus still remains.
  • 2116 & 2118 were bought by a private owner. One unit was used for parts when restoring 2103 at the Pacific Bus Museum and the other was most likely scrapped.

  • 2546 was bought by a movie company around 2005 and was stored in a lot for about 9 years. It was later spotted on craigslist in early 2014, where it was then bought & preserved by a private owner.

  • 2741 was repowered with a Detroit Diesel Series 40 as a test in the early 2000's.

  • 2801 was bought on 12/4/1992 and was a 1992 model.
  • Repowered from Detroit Diesel 6V92TA's in 2000 & 2002.
  • 2854 was kept by AC Transit to replace 2601 as the "Voters' bus."
  • 45 units to SF MUNI 2801-2845 in 2006-2007.
  • 2805, 2813, 2815, 2816, 2817, 2819, 2823 & possibly 3 other units transferred to Bear Transit.

  • Retired in 2007-2009; "traded" for another Van Hool fleet order.
  • Most (almost all) units were sold to ABC Companies.
    • 19 units to Mears Transportation 3701-3719 in 2007. More units were acquired by Mears/Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels later and are numbered 3728-3750.
    • 22 units to The Free Enterprise System 29701-29722 in 2009.
    • 2925 & 2924 to University of Minnesota 634-635 in 2007.[31][32] They were removed from their fleet by 2009 and likely returned to ABC.
    • 2951, 2953 & 2958 were leased to Valley Regional Transit circa 2008-2010. Afterward it's been said they were sold to a charter company in Fremont, CA that was planning on using them for a small local service, but were scrapped instead.
    • 2962 was sold to a charter company in Fremont, CA. It was going to be used for a small local service, but became a storage bus instead. It was listed for sale on ebay in March 2016.[33]
  • 2921, 2922, 2947 & unknown units were spotted at American Bus Repair (ABR) in December 2010.[34] Their fates remain unknown.

  • All units were originally painted in the San Pablo scheme for uses on the 72, 72L & 73/72M routes.
  • 7201 was an Ex-NABI demo.
  • 7201-7204, 7206-7208, 7210, 7212-7214, 7216, 7217 & 7221-7223 were "traded" for another Van Hool fleet order and were sold off in 2007. Most, if not all units were sold to ABC Companies.
  • 7205, 7209, 7211, 7215, 7218-7220 retired in summer 2014 and were sold off as scrap in 2015.[1]
8000-8035 1975 Flxible 53102-8-1 Detroit Diesel 8V71N Allison VS2-8
  • Originally ordered for BART Express service.
  • Most units retired in the mid-1980's.
  • Many units were bought by Metro Apple Express in New York, NY.
