York Region Transit 501-520
York Region Transit 501-520 are Van Hool A330 buses built between 2005 and 2006. Originally delivered for Viva service and numbered as part of 5101-5160, twenty units were refurbished and converted for use on conventional YRT service. The prototype, bus 5102/501, was outshopped in late 2012; refurbishments of the remaining buses were carried out from 2013 to 2014.
The buses are painted in YRT's three-tone blue livery. They have retained the push-buttons for passengers to open the rear doors. Inside, the seats have been replaced with Kiel Ideo seats, which are upholstered in the standard fabric used on YRT buses up to 2009. The operator's cab door had to be removed to fit the farebox and Presto transfer cutter. A Presto reader was fitted on a stanchion just below the windshield.
