Western Contra Costa Transit Authority or WestCAT is the public transit service in western Contra Costa County, California that serves the cities of Hercules and Pinole. It is operated under contract by MV Transportation.

History

WestCAT was established in August 1977 as a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement between the County of Contra Costa and the cities of Hercules and Pinole.

  • 100 is the only active unit. It became a reserve bus circa summer 2015.[1][2]
  • 103 was involved in an accident in 2009[3] and retired early.
  • 101, 102, 104-110 retired in early 2014 and were auctioned off on 3/26/2014.

Cummins ISM Allison B400R
  • It was painted into the WestCAT Lynx livery and its Cummins ISM engine either rebuilt or replaced with an EPA 2007 compliant unit in late 2014. Its standard engine cooling fan was replaced with electric EMP cooling fans.
  • It was converted into a suburban in July 2016.[4]
  • It became a reserve bus in 2019.
