The Volvo B8RLEA is a low floor bus chassis and articulated version of the B8RLE. It is the Euro 6 replacement for the B12BLEA. The B8RLEA has a low floor section with steps just before the rear wheels. A 7.7-litre engine is mounted at the centre of the rear. The power steering is now an electrically driven hydraulic system instead of the previous fully hydraulic system.
The first B8RLEA was delivered to Transperth in December 2014. It features the Volgren Optimus body. In 2020, Marcopolo began offering their Gran Viale body on the B8RLEA for operators in South America.
