Toronto Transit Commission 3000-3027 are Mark 1 ICTS cars built from 1982 to 1984 and 1986. They were manufactured by Metro Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Urban Transportation Development Corporation, in Kingston, Ontario. When the Scarborough RT opened, the TTC had ordered 24 cars. With demand soon increasing on the line, an additional 4 cars were ordered to add capacity.

All the cars were rebuilt at Greenwood Shops in the early 2000s. They received a mechanical overhaul and the interior was revised with more perimeter seating at either end of the cars in stead of the transverse layout. The interior also received finishes that were used on the then new T1 subways cars such as flooring and seat inserts.

By 2009, the cars were in an advanced state of wear and were slated for retirement in 2015. This was amidst discussion on whether to replace the SRT with LRT vehicles in line with Transit City, keep it as ICTS technology with Mark 2 trains, or extend the Bloor-Danforth subway to Scarborough Centre Station. It was finally decided to replace the SRT with LRT and extend it to Sheppard Avenue East. The SRT would close after the 2015 Pan Am Games and the new line would open in 2020. The TTC considered refurbishing the cars in time for the 2015 Pan Am Games. This would include a mechanical overhaul and refresh of the exterior.

With the continued wear on the system and the approval of the Bloor-Danforth subway extension, a refurbishment was deemed necessary for the cars to operate for another decade. In February 2015, the TTC introduced the new exterior look that the refurbished cars will wear. The vinyl wrap consists of a blue base (matching the line colour) with the station names along the top and the line's number prominently displayed on the front and sides. Inside, the cars are receiving new flooring and wall finishes (in light grey). The seating will be adjusted to accommodate mobility devices.
