Sunshine Coast Regional Transit System

Sunshine Coast Regional Transit System serves the regional district of Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. Funding is provided by the Sunshine Coast Regional District. Planning and administrative support is provided by BC Transit. Service is operated by the Sunshine Coast Regional District.[1]


History

  • January 1 1982 System begins opereration as Sunshine Coast Paratransit system, offering limited fixed route and on demand accessible service. Contracted operator was Sunshine Coast Community Services Society. Eventually Sunshine Coast Regional District assumed the contract for this service.
  • August 1 1989 Conventional system begins operations as Sunshine Coast Transit system. Paratransit system continues, now exclusively focused on accessible on demand service, by late 2000s paratransit systems across the province allowed by BC Transit to brand their door to door accessible services as handyDART service.
