Stagecoach South Wales

Stagecoach South Wales is a bus operator in South East Wales. It is a division of Stagecoach Group.

History

In January 1991, Western Travel purchased the eastern operations of National Welsh Omnibus Services; the operations were renamed to Red and White honouring a prior company. Stagecoach acquired Red and White through its purchase of Western Travel in 1993, and renamed them to Stagecoach Red and White. Western Travel also owned a 10% stake in Rhondda Buses; Stagecoach bought out the remaining owners in 1997. Rhondda Buses' Caerphilly and Rhymney Valley operations were transferred to Red and White, while the remainder was renamed to Stagecoach Rhondda. A reorganization in 2000 saw both companies rebranded as Stagecoach in South Wales, with the Ross on Wye operations transferred to neighbouring Stagecoach West.

The bus operations of Phil Anslow Travel were purchased in September 2000; Stagecoach later purchased their minibus and coach operations in 2004 under the banner Red and White Coaches; the division was closed in 2006. Glyn Williams Travel was purchased in 2006. Islwyn Borough Transport was agreed to be sold to Stagecoach in January 2010. In 2013, all the individual licenses held by Stagecoach South Wales through various acquisitions were consolidated under the Red and White legal registration.
