Route 20 is a ferry runs that is under contract and receives subsidy from Province of British Columbia to [[BC Ferries]]. This is minor route in [[BC Ferries]] route network.

This route connects the Southern Gulf Island to Cowichan Valley.

==How to determine the vessel for the sailing?==
Varies through out the day but Friday schedule is written differently compared to Saturday to Thursday schedule. The sailing from Chemainus usually go first sailing via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour than the next sailing is direct Preedy Harbour, than next sailing via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour than the next two sailing is direct Preedy Harbour, via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour, than the next sailing is direct Preedy Harbour, then next two are via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour than the last sailing is direct Preedy Harbour on the way back the vessel is direct from either island this happen on Saturday through Thursday. The Friday schedule is different by the first sailing via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour than the next three sailing is direct Preedy Harbour, than next the two sailing are via Telegraph Harbour than to Preedy Harbour, than results back to the normal pattern.

==History==
On March 18, 1959 the [[Ministry of Transportation Salt Water Ferries]] starts service on route seven vehicles ferry named [[Ministry of Transportation Salt Water Ferries Ethel Hunter|Ethel Hunter]] which lasted for 13 years.<ref> https://ferriesbc.proboards.com/thread/8177/salt-water-ministry-highways-ferries Salt Water Ministry Highway Ferries] West Coast Ferry forum, retrieved 04-14-2021</ref> In 1973 the [[Ministry of Transportation Salt Water Ferries]] built a 26 vehicle and 150 passengers vessel named the [[Fraser River Marine Transportation Ltd. K-Class|Kullet]]. In 1978 a same size vessel named [[BC Ferries K-Class|Klitsa]] started to service the route which was year round until 1983 which serviced the route in summer season. In 1983 [[Ministry of Transportation Salt Water Ferries]] put a 30 vehicle and 200 passengers per sailing vessel on the route during fall/winter/spring season named [[BC Ferries K-Class|Kahloke]]. The route was transferred to [[BC Ferries]] in 1985. In March 2007 vessel got 32 vehicles and 269 passengers per sailing sailing year around named [[BC Ferries K-Class|Kuper]].

==Future of the route==
A single [[BC Ferries Island Class|Island Class]] from the final wave will be place on route which could be fully electric from get go.
