Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority or SORTA, is the public transit agency serving Cincinnati, Ohio and its suburbs.

History

SORTA replaced the previous operator, the Cincinnati Transit Company in 1973.

  • 7 units remained in service at the end of 2007. They retired in 2008.
  • 441 was damaged by an engine fire. It was subsequently cut down to 30 feet and had its rear door removed. It ran in revenue service for approximately 2 weeks before being taken out permanently. Its engine & transmission were removed, it was renumbered to 2001 and was used as training vehicle/simulator through 2010.[3]

  • 690 was used as a promotional bus for the MetroMoves proposal in 2002 and was sold off in 2009.
  • 695 was retained by SORTA as an accessibility training bus from the early 2000's to 2021. Its powertrain was removed. It was acquired by the Cincinnati Transit Historical Association in August 2021.[4][5]
