Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority 8000-8264 were 1980 GMC T8J-603 buses. These were SEPTA's first buses to be delivered with the new 6v92 engine, which would power all of Septa's 40ft buses, with 8590 being an exception. Because of the air conditioning issues, SEPTA retrofitted the buses with roof mounted Sutrak air conditioning units. The buses also had their rollsigns replaced with digital signs from Luminator. These buses started to be retired in 1996 and the last remaining buses were retired in mid-1997. They were the last buses SEPTA would acquire from General Motors.
