San Mateo County Transit District 850-899 were 1984 Gillig Phantom 40' (40TB/96/6V92) buses. They were originally spec'd with Telma retarders with their transmissions, but were later removed due to some overheating and catching on fire. Some units were assigned to contract runs, originally operated by Greyhound Peninsula Lines until 1990, Grosvenor Bus Lines until the early 2000's and finally MV Transportation. They sported "9" in front of their fleet numbers. Some units retained their original livery as late as 1991.[1]

Details
- 1 unknown unit was sold to the San Francisco International Airport as an Emergency Medical Response bus. It was later used to store equipment. It was was auctioned off on 2/22/2014.[2]
