San Francisco MUNI 8801-8850

San Francisco MUNI 8801-8850 were 1988 New Flyer D40 buses. They were all initially delivered in MUNI's Landor livery . Their original tailpipe design was similar to 4500-4679, but was changed shortly after being delivered. The driver window design was changed by early 1989 due to complaints about blind spots when driving. 8801-8815 were delivered in December 1988. 8816-8850 were delivered in January 1989.

Units that were repainted into the "Septa" paint with black fleet numbers on a white background over the stripe were the first buses to receive the new paint job.
