San Luis Obispo Transit or SLO Transit is a public transportation provider in San Luis Obispo, California. Operations and maintenance are currently contracted to First Transit.

It is not to be confused with the county-operated regional service San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority.

History

SLO Transit was founded in 1974. It was once operated by the City & County of San Luis Obispo all as one agency until the city & county split operations in the mid-1980's. The city retained SLO Transit, the central county ran Central Coast Area Transit (CCAT), and the southern county ran South County Area Transit (SCAT). CCAT & SCAT eventually merged and became San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority in the mid-2000's.
