Route Details

The routing of route 262

Route 262 was an express route that traveled from Stanley Corners & Stittsville to Downtown in the AM peak and the reverse in the PM peak. In the AM peak, there was no boarding allowed from Queensway Station to Westboro Station, after which regular fare was charged. The 1st & 2nd AM trips did not serve Bayshore Station.

History

September 1st, 2002

  • New rural express that will provide direct rush-hour service from Stittsville to downtown via Carp Road and Highway 417.

September 3rd, 2006

  • Will be revised to serve the growing residential area in the south end of Stittsville. Buses will travel from Fernbank and Liard, via Fernbank, West Ridge, Kittiwake and Carp to the 417.
  • Buses will not serve Eagleson Park & Ride for a faster trip to and from downtown.
  • Service between Beverly and Harry Douglas is replaced by new Route 261.

September 6th, 2009

  • Route is rerouted to serve the new Pinecrest and Bayshore Stations.

November 28th, 2009

  • In order to allow buses to take advantage of the fastest route and provide customers with a more direct trip downtown, some morning trips will be rerouted.
  • Instead of travelling via Bayshore and Pinecrest Stations, early morning trips will remain on Highway 417 to Queensway Station, while later morning trips will be unchanged.

March 1st, 2010

  • Route will be changed from a rural express route to an express route. The required fare will be the "urban" express fare.
  • This change is a result of the 2010 transit budget that City Council passed in January.
  • This budget provides for the continued conversion to urban transit service standards for the Stittsville area. The operation is spread over several years.
