Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission Cyrville Station
Cyrville Station is a small station located at Cyrville Road and the Queensway (Highway 417). There is not much located around this station except for a Value Village at Cummings and Cyrville.
Original Transitway station
Cyrville Station opened with the Transitway opening from St. Laurent Station (Michael Street to be exact) to Blair Station. Originally upper level Cyrville was serviced by route 125, but around 1999 it was removed from the upper level.
The service stops on the upper level was designed a "drop off zone" since then as there was a lack of bus service. There is lots of available land around the station and future plans involve constructing transit-oriented development on those lands.
The station is a very simple design, however with heavy traffic volumes on Cyrville Road, it is nearly impossible during peak hours to cross from one platform to the other. But with the low traffic volume at this station, there is no need for a solution. Pleasant Park Station shares the same design.
New Confederation Line LRT station
The City of Ottawa is planning the area around the station to be a "Transit Oriented Development" zoning as part of the LRT project. This is one of the planned LRT Stations on the "Confederation Line" LRT project. As a result, the current station was demolished and a new LRT station will be built in its place.
Construction on the new station began in Summer 2015 and is expected to be completed by Winter 2016.
