The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is the public transportation planning body and transit service provider for Orange County, California.

History

  • Established in 1972 as the Orange County Transit District.
  • In 1991, Orange County Transit District, along with 6 other separate transportation agencies, were consolidated into a new agency now known as OCTA.
  • Rebranded as OC Bus, starting in October 2015.

Awards

In 2005, OCTA was judged America's Best Public Transportation System by the American Public Transportation Association, for its record ridership gains in the bus and the Metrolink trains that it operates or funds.
