The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador operates ferry service connecting to remote communities on and near the Island of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The federal crown corporation Marine Atlantic also operates ferry service from Sydney, NS to Port aux Basques, NL and Argentia, NL.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has contracted out ferry operation on some routes to private operators, who provide their own vessels. Vessels owned by a contractor and dedicated to a specific route are listed when known.
