The New Flyer Industries E60 was an articulated trolley bus with all the standard features of the D60. The E60 was propelled by two 240 HP AC induction traction motors which were mounted on the middle and rear axles for maximum traction and improved weight distribution. The motors were custom designed by General Electric with the latest in AC propulsion technology. Offwire power was provided by a battery APU for maximum flexibility. It was only produced in 1993-1994 (with the exception of the prototype being built in 1992) and only for one transit agency (San Francisco MUNI). It was however offered by New Flyer until 2001.
