The New Castle Area Transit Authority, or NCATA, provides public transit service to the city of New Castle, Pennsylvania, as well as surrounding smaller communities within Lawrence County. An intercity route to Pittsburgh is also provided,.
History
The New Castle Area Transit Authority was formed in 1959 to take over Shenango Valley Transportation Company's operations following a year-long strike (1958-1959) in which no public transit services ran. On September 1st, 1965, NCATA was incorporated as a mass transportation project with the cooperation of and funding from the local, state, and federal levels.
