Central Parkway Garage is one of two garages used by MiWay in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 975 Central Parkway West.
The current Central Parkway Garage facility consists of the following elements:
- Central Parkway Garage (CP) - 975 Central Parkway West (opened in 1977)
- Central Parkway Annex Garage (CX) 3567 Erindale Station Road (opened in 2009)
- Body Shop - 3585 Erindale Station Road (opened in 2008)
- Administrative Offices - 3484 Semenyk Court (south side of Central Parkway West, across from the garage)
The main Central Parkway Garage building was constructed in 1977, replacing an existing outdoor facility located at 3301 Wolfedale Road.
Over the years, various phases of expansion have taken place to accommodate growing service needs. The first major expansion occurred in 1989, when an addition to the east side of the garage added over 41,000 square feet of space and 7 bus storage lanes. The maintenance areas were rearranged, allowing for additional hoists to be installed.
The purchase of the former Marshall Steel site immediately west of the main building in the late 1980s allowed for additional expansion to occur in the early 1990s. An outdoor storage area was constructed accommodating approximately 50 buses. Buses were stored outside under canopies and connected to a 'UWE' heating system which kept the buses warm during colder winter months. A natural gas fueling station was also constructed to accommodate natural gas buses.
Expanding service needs required another expansion of the facility, which began in 2007. In order to create space for the expanded facility, the outdoor storage area with canopies as well as the existing body shop was demolished. The maintenance area of the existing garage was expanded, and a new body shop was constructed at the west end of the property, facing Erindale Station Road. The new body shop opened in June 2008. The most notable element of the expansion was the construction of a second bus storage area with wash bays, capable of accommodating 150 buses. This new storage area opened in 2009 and is known as Central Parkway Annex Garage.
As part of the overall expansion of the facility, all administrative offices were consolidated to a office building located at 3484 Semenyk Court, across the street from the main Central Parkway Garage building.
Despite the various expansions to the facility over the years, space is still at a premium, and it is common to see buses stored outside on the east side of the facility, along the former CP spur.
In October 2015, the facility was renamed E.J Dowling Transit Facility in honor of Ed Dowling, the first general manager of transit. Even though signage in front of the facility reflects this name, the garage buildings are still referred to by their original names, including on driver runguides.
