Metropolitan Transportation Authority Michael J Quill Depot
Michael J Quill Depot (Depot Code: MQ) is one of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's 30 depots. It provides the buses for most of Manhattan's crosstown routes and some of the north/south corridor routes. The depot was originally built by Greyhound Lines to be used as their headquarters and bus garage for New York City (April 26th, 1966). In 1996, it was sold to the MTA and reopened in Spring 1998 after some renovations, dubbed the Westside Depot. At the time, it replaced the 100th Street Depot (Now Tuskegee Airmen Depot) which closed for renovations and the Walnut Depot (Permanently closed). The depot is currently operated by the New York City Transportation Authority.
