Metro Transit's Thornhill Garage operated briefly from 2005 to 2010, as an overflow storage yard for the over crowded Ilsley garage. Hence, the Thornhill garage was often referred to as the satellite garage, or sometimes the rapid transit facility because the entire fleet of MetroLink BRT buses were stored at Thornhill.
The garage was purchased from Stock Transportation, the local school bus operator, and is less than a 5 minute drive from the main Ilsley Transit Centre, which made it very convenient. The garage was closed in 2010 with the opening of the new Ragged Lake garage in Halifax.
Buses belonging to the Thornhill Garage were identified by a reflective letter T applied to the side of the bus next to the door, as well as on the farebox facing the door.
