Halifax Transit's Scotia Square Terminal is located outside of the Scotia Square shopping mall and office complex on Barrington Street between Duke Street and Cogswell Street. It is the primary downtown terminal and transfer point. Although not originally referred to as a terminal - it was always simply called either the Scotia Square stop or the Duke and Barrington stop - within the last few years Halifax Transit has begun referring to it as the Scotia Square terminal.

The terminal actually consists of five bus stops surrounding the Scotia Square complex: one located along Barrington Street northbound (across the street from the mall), two on Barrington Street southbound directly outside of the mall, one on Duke Street westbound near the Duke Tower entrance, and one on Albemarle Street (formerly Market Street) northbound. For a description of what routes service each stop, see below.

Amenities

  • Each stop on the inbound (west) side of Barrington Street features brand new large glass shelters with benches; the outbound side on Barrington Street features two older and smaller shelters with limited seating capacity. The stops on Duke Street and Albemarle Street have no shelter or benches.
  • A GoTime monitor is provided on the outbound (east) side of Barrington so passengers can check departure times. A GoTime monitor is shared between the inbound (west) stops and the outbound stop on Duke Street, located within the mall entrance at the corner of Barrington and Duke streets.
  • A drivers room is located in the lower level of the mall, accessible from the outside. This is only accessibly by drivers.
