Kingston Transit route 10 is an accessible route operated by Kingston Transit in the city of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and in the township of Loyalist, Ontario.

Route Details

Route 10 starts at the Cataraqui Centre in Kingston's west end. From there it travels west on Princess Street, south on Bayridge Drive, west on Taylor Kidd Boulevard, south on Collins Bay Road, and then west on Bath Road. From there it travels west over the Kingston city limits into the Township of Loyalist. It loops around the community of Amherstview in Loyalist Township before turning back towards the Cataraqui Centre.

It is the only Kingston Transit route to leave the City of Kingston's boundaries. It is funded by a contract with Loyalist Township where Loyalist pays a fee to the City of Kingston in exchange for the service. This results in a relative poor schedule relative to other Kingston Transit routes.

The route runs from 5:55am to 10:55pm Monday-Friday, 6:55am to 9:55pm Saturday, and 8:55am to 7:55pm Sunday. It operates every 30 minutes at weekday peak periods and in the midday on Saturday, and every 60 minutes at all other time periods.

History

Route 10 was originally operated by a separate transit agency named Ernestown Township Transit. In 2002 the agency was merged into Kingston Transit and Route 10 was born.

Originally, route 10's Kingston terminus was at the Kingston Centre instead of the Cataraqui Centre, travelling on Bath Road to reach it. Coinciding with the introduction of the Kingston Express service in September 2013, the route was re-routed to terminate at its current eastern terminus.

Vehicles

Route 10 is primarily a 40ft route, and uses New Flyer D40LF/D40LFR, New Flyer XD40, and Nova LFS.
