The Iveco Bus Urbanway is a low floor transit bus sold in Europe. It was launched at the 60th UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition in May 2013 and is the successor to the Irisbus Citelis. The launch of the Urbanway was also coincident with the introduction of the Iveco Bus brand.
The Urbanway meets the Euro 6 emissions standard with the latest Tector 7 and Cursor 9 engines from Fiat Powertrain Technologies featuring Hi-eSCR, eliminating the need for EGR. The Tector 7 engine is placed longitudinally, allowing for a greater passenger capacity. An option for the compressed natural gas-fueled Cursor 8 engine is available. With the new engines as well as a reduced weight, the Urbanway is more fuel efficient than its predecessor. A diesel-electric hybrid option is also available. The bus can be powered by electricity only for a limited time, particularly when stationary.[1]
Iveco Bus introduced a new design language that differs from the Irisbus Agora. Some components such as headlamps and rear lights, are shared with the Iveco Bus Crossway. The majority of the exterior lighting is LED. New fog lights feature a "Cornering Lights" capability. Inside, lighting is provided by indirect ambient LED bands and LED spotlights. The middle door was shifted further to the rear to allow for more space, including for two wheelchairs. A new interior ventilation system reduces noise while allowing for better air flow. The driver's area features improved ergonomics and more space. It has been designed to European Bus System of the Future (EBSF) standards.[2]
