20 A-Line Express is an express bus route operated by the Hamilton Street Railway in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Route Details

20 A-Line Express is a new peak period express bus route that travels southbound from Downtown Hamilton to Hamilton International Airport that started in September 2009.

Vehicles

20 A-Line Express operates Orion VI CNG, C40LF, D40LF, DE40LF buses. Route 20 was the only route that was exclusively run by 2007 or 2009 New Flyer DE60LFR articulated buses until February 2011 when the articulated buses were reassigned to routes 27 and 35.

History

  • September 2009 - New service begins starting from Downtown Hamilton and ending at Hamilton Airport.
  • February 2011 - Local service begins between MacNab Terminal and Mohawk College.
  • September 2015 - Route extended to Pier 8 Discovery Centre.
  • September 2018 - All day service begins on route 20,.

Branch 20, from King Street and Hughson Street would head to MacNab Terminal, then southbound on James Street, continuing up the West 5th Hill to Mohawk College Fennell Campus with a stop at the South Entrance Loop and Mohawk Student Centre. From Downtown to Mohawk College, it stops at all the local stops. It would head north on Governors Boulevard to Fennell Avenue where it would go eastbound to Upper James Street. It continues southbound on Upper James Street/Highway 6 to Airport Road, where it would head westbound on Airport Road to the Hamilton Airport access road where it would end at Hamilton Airport Terminal. Northbound trips start at Hamilton Airport in reverse order until the bottom of the West 5th Hill, where it goes eastbound on St. Joseph's Drive to John Street, where it then goes Northbound on John Street to King Street and Hughson Street in Downtown Hamilton. All A-Line trips start and end with a half trip to/from Mountain Transit Centre.
