9 Herring Cove is a bus route operated by Halifax Transit in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Route Details
This route is a heavily used corridor route. The route travels between the Scotia Square Bus Terminal in Downtown Halifax, to the small community of Herring Cove. The route 9 has 2 branches, branches A&B. Branch A provides service to Greystone Drive, and shortly after terminates at Fotherby Avenue, both just off of Herring Cove Road. Branch B follows the same routing of the A branch up until Greystone Drive, where it then continues past and continues to Herring Cove, also by passing Fotherby. As it is a corridor route, it provides high frequency service to main arteries in the city throughout the day.
History
The route 9 was implemented in 2017 as part of Halifax Transit's Moving Forward Together Plan. Despite having the same number as former route 9 Barrington, the route does not follow the same routing, but more so follows the routing of former route 6 Quinpool, both of which were also discontinued as part of the plan.
