Halifax Transit route 2 'Fairview' is a heavily used route that runs from the Lower Water Street terminal in downtown Halifax, to the Lacewood Terminal in Clayton park, via North Street and Chebucto Road servicing Mumford Terminal, and Main Avenue.

It is often used as a quick method of getting from downtown Halifax to Mumford Terminal and the Halifax Shopping Centre, as it takes a more direct path than routes 1, 14 and 9A/B.

The route 2 is a partial reinstatement of multiple discontinued routes, including route 2 Wedgewood and route 4 Rosedale. Beginning in 2017, Halifax Transit began a system wide, phased approach at improving the transit system. As part of the changes the route 2 was recreated and more community routes were made to service areas affected by the changes to the old route 4 and 2.
