40 Aberdeen / Olympia is a bus route operated by Grays Harbor Transit in the western Puget Sound region of Washington State.

Route Details

This east-west bus route runs between Aberdeen Transit Center and Olympia. Service runs from 5:30 AM to 8:45 AM on weekdays and from 7:30 AM to 8 PM on weekends[1]. Connections to Hoquiam Transit Center are available with route 20.

Eastbound trips depart Aberdeen Transit Center west on E Wishkah Street, south on S H Street, east on E Herron Street, east on E Hornsby Way, east on E Wishkah Street which becomes Highway 12 / Olympic Highway, north on Devonshire Road and east on Pioneer Avenue W to Montesano Transit Center. From there, the route continues east on Pioneer Avenue E which becomes Monte Elma Road which becomes W Main Street to Elma Transit Center. From there, the route continues east on W Main Street which becomes E Main Street which becomes Elma McCleary Road which becomes W Simpson Avenue and south on S 3rd Street to McCleary Transit Center. From there, the route heads south on S 3rd Street, east on SR 8, east on Mud Bay Road NW, east on Harrison Avenue NW, east on Olympic Way, east on 4th Avenue W, north on Capitol Way N and east on Olympia Avenue N to Olympia Transit Center.

Westbound trips depart Olympia Transit Center south on Washington Street NE, west on State Avenue NE, south on Columbia Street NW, west on 4th Avenue W, west on Olympic Way, west on Harrison Avenue NW, west on Mud Bay Road NW, west on Highway 101, west on SR 8, north on Mox Chehalis Road and north on S Main Street to McCleary Transit Center. The route then continues north on S 3rd Street and west on W Simpson Avenue which becomes Elma McCleary Road which becomes E Main Street which becomes W Main Street to Elma Transit Center. from there, the route continues west on W Main Street, north on N 18th Street, east on W Young Street, south on N 15th Street and west on W Main Street which becomes Monte Elma Road which becomes Pioneer Avenue E to Montesano Transit Center. The route then continues west on Pioneer Avenue W and west on Highway 12 to Aberdeen Transit Center.

Approximately half of all trips begin or end at McCleary Transit Center instead of Olympia Transit Center.

Two eastbound and one westbound trip operate as express services between McCleary Transit Center and Aberdeen Transit Center, remaining on SR 8 and Highway 12, rather than deviating via McCleary, Elma and Montesano.

The first westbound trip of the day on weekdays serves Hill Road - Chico Lane in Central Park.

The second westbound trip of the day on weekdays serves the Montesano County Courthouse.

The last two eastbound trips of the day on weekdays start at Aberdeen Transit Center on the regular route to Hornsby Way, then continue east on E Herron Street, south on S Newell Street and head east through the Walmart Supercenter parking lot before continuing east on Highway 12 for the remainder of the regular route. All weekend eastbound trips serve the Walmart.
