GO Transit 2440-2449
GO Transit 2440-2449 are MCI D4500CT acquired in January-February 2010 and placed in service in March 2010. This series of buses was purchased to replace 1610-1619. All models are 45 feet in length, initially with seating for 57 individuals. All D4500CTs of this series are equipped with wheelchair lifts and have two wheelchair positions through seat adjustment.
These D4500CTs were delivered with the new GO Transit livery and CCTV cameras. The front window sun shades are controlled remotely by the driver, rather than having to be manually pulled down in all other GO Transit buses. Similar to the previous order, the interior of this batch of buses differs from GO's other D4500CTs as the interior trim on the ceiling and walls uses a fabric with a more plush pile and different pattern. The floor from the stairs to the top of the ramp is grooved (same as that on the 1600-1619 series), and the stairwell area is more narrow than older D4500s in the fleet. These buses also have an updated steering wheel similar in appearance to those on some of the 1600-1619 series. Unlike other MCIs of the fleet, this series does not feature foot rests on the seats.
In 2021, three units from this and previous order (2437, 2439, & 2442) were converted to mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic "VAX buses". In January 2022 it was announced by Metrolinx that two more were converted for a total of 5, with more units to be converted later in the year (as of mid-2022 there were at least a total of 8 GO Vax buses in use).
In March 2023, the mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic "Vax Buses" program came to an end. The four units (2442, 2445, 2446, 2447) are currently inactive, with 2442 returning to regular service in Spring 2023.
