The Freightliner Custom Chassis MB-65 is the successor to the MB-55 chassis. The MB-65 is a front-engine, straight-rail chassis used for flat-front commercial buses. The MB-55 features a low-mounted engine, which eliminates the engine protrusion next to the driver, a common feature on buses of this type. The MB-65 was introduced at BusCon 2009 in Chicago IL, and first deliveries of the MB-65 were expected in April or May of 2010.

Unlike the MB-55, which only allowed for a width of 96 inches, the MB-65 is available for both 96 and 102 inch body widths. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) has also been increased to 32,000 pounds from the 30,000 pound GVWR of the MB-55. The MB-65 uses a fabricated front axle instead of a forged front axle that the MB-55 used, and the MB-65 offers a 12 percent increase in wheel cut over the MB-55 to 55 degrees.
