Fort Erie Transit is the transit agency in the town of Fort Erie, Ontario. It is operated under contract by 1699225 Ontario Inc (Regional Limousine).

History

Fort Erie Transit was operated by Dunn the Mover Ltd. since its inception in 1977. In December 2011, Tokmajian Inc. was awarded the contract to operate the system for five years beginning in October 2012.

Following a large decrease in ridership during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Erie Council decided to convert to a fully On-Demand transit system. A new contract was awarded to 1699225 Ontario Inc, a local company operating as Regional Limousine, with the new On-Demand service launching effective October 4, 2021. Limited fixed-route service continued to operate until October 15 in order to transition riders to the new service.

Routes

Fort Erie operates On-Demand Transit, with no fixed routings.

On October 2, 2017, Fort Erie Transit switched from a single line to a multi-line system. Three routes operated on bi-directional loops, with the Fort Erie Municipal Centre as the system's hub. Services operated weekdays and Saturdays, except statutory holidays. Over the course of the pilot program, a significant drop in ridership was noted, and the advisory committee recommended reverting to a one-way structure. Service was reverted back to a one-way loop bus system on July 16, 2018, retaining the three existing routes but operating on a once-hourly schedule.
