History
Mill Woods Transit Centre was opened in September 2000. Its design was similar to the new Heritage Transit Centre. This terminal was the Edmonton terminus for the service offered by Beaumont Transporation Service's, and also served ETS route 98 to Beaumont. Mill Woods Transit Centre provided relief for Lakewood, which by this point was handling more buses than it was built for. Following the opening of the Mill Woods Transit Centre, Lakewood was reduced to a "major bus stop". At that point, all routes that terminated there were routed to the Mill Woods Transit Centre. The exceptions were peak hour route 64s and 65s. Certain school specials continued to terminate and originate. Today, Lakewood has been growing in importance once again. While a few routes do have runs that terminate there (8 and the 66), the 78 and 79 only serve Lakewood, and do not serve the Mill Woods Transit Centre. Mill Woods Transit Centre was the second location to get its clock tower replaced by a LED clock/temperature display. The first was Clareview Transit Centre.
