The 409 runs from the Oshawa Centre Terminal, Gibb, Thornton, King, Garrard, Taunton, Thornton, Rossland, Stevenson and returning back to the Oshawa Centre Terminal.. The 409 connects people from the north west end of Oshawa, to the Oshawa Centre Terminal.
Route History
The 409 Thornton was originally operated by Oshawa Transit(1960-2006), the route has had major changes to the service since merger. The original route ran from the OC Terminal to Whitby Mall(via Nichol and Burns) then back to Thornton, north to Rossland, east to Stevenson and south back to the OC Terminal. This routing was cut shortly after the DRT Merger. The Thornton route originally carried a #9 until the system introduced the 4 series in 2008. In May of 2015, the 408 Stevenson was merged with this route to create the 409 "Thornton/Stevenson".
