This is an east-west NightBus route connecting Simon Fraser University in Burnaby and Downtown Vancouver running primarily on Hastings Street. Service runs daily every 20–30 minutes during the late-night and early morning hours in lieu of regular R5 Hastings St service.
Eastbound trips depart from W. Pender Street & Howe Street heading south on Howe Street, east on W. Georgia Street, north on Seymour Street, east on Hastings Street becoming Burnaby Mountain Parkway, north on Gaglardi Way, east on University Drive East, and south on East Campus Road to SFU Exchange.
Westbound trips depart from SFU Exchange heading east on University High Street, south on Tower Road, west on South Campus Road, north on Gaglardi Way, west on University Drive West, south on Gaglardi Way, west on Burnaby Mountain Parkway becoming Hastings Street, south on Richards Street, and west on W. Pender Street to W. Pender Street & Howe Street.
October 2001 - All Owl routes cancelled due to funding shortfall[1]
July 2003 - Service re-introduced as N35 SFU/Downtown NightBus running every 30 minutes on Friday and weekend nights[2]
June 2004 - Monday–Thursday service introduced due to popular demand[3]
September 2004 - Service expanded to end at 3:09AM
December 2004 - Sunday service introduced
April 2006 - Service revised to terminate at new bays on Howe Street between Georgia and Hastings due to construction of the Canada Line instead of at Granville & W. Pender. Service on Granville Street discontineud[4]
February 1–28, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Introduction of additional trips to provide 24-hour service along the Hastings Street corridor[5]
June 2017 - Service increased on weekdays and Saturdays in both directions into the early morning hours
January 2018 - Service increased on Sundays/holidays in both directions into the early morning hours, making Hastings Street a 24-hour bus corridor, in conjunction with the 95 B-Line[6]
April 24–May 14, 2020 - Service suspended as part of cost-saving measures due to low ridership relating to the COVID-19 pandemic[7]
