N24 Lynn Valley/Downtown NightBus is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Route Details
This is a north-south NightBus route connecting Downtown Vancouver and Lynn Valley Centre in North Vancouver via Lonsdale Quay. Service runs daily every 20 minutes during the late-night hours in lieu of SeaBus service and other North Shore–Downtown Vancouver and Lonsdale Quay–Lynn Valley Centre bus services. There are more northbound trips than southbound trips on all days. There are extra trips on weekends/holidays in the early mornings in both directions. These trips start/end at W. Georgia Street & Homer Street.
Northbound trips during early morning hours on weekends/holidays depart from W. Georgia Street & Homer Street heading west on W. Georgia Street. Northbound trips during late-night hours on all days depart from Howe Street & Dunsmuir Street heading south on Howe Street, west on Dunsmuir Street, north on Burrard Street, east on W. Pender Street, south on Cambie Street, and west on W. Georgia Street. Then all trips continue west on W. Georgia Street and through the Stanley Park Causeway and across the Lions Gate Bridge, then east on Marine Drive becoming 3rd Street W., south on Chesterfield Avenue, east on Espalande W., south on Lonsdale Avenue, west on Carrie Cates Court to Lonsdale Quay. Continuing from Lonsdale Quay, the route heads east on Carrie Cates Court, north on Lonsdale Avenue, east on 29th Street E., and north on Lynn Valley Road to Lynn Valley Centre.
Southbound trips depart from Lynn Valley Centre heading east on Lynn Valley Road, south on Mountain Highway, west on 27th Street E., north on Lynn Valley Road, west on 29th Avenue E., south on Lonsdale Avenue, west on Carrie Cates Court to Lonsdale Quay. Continuing from Lonsdale Quay, the route heads east on Carrie Cates Court, north on Lonsdale Avenue, west on Esplanade W., north on Chesterfield Avenue, west on 3rd Street W. becoming Marine Drive, south across the Lions Gate Bridge through the Stanley Park Causeway and becoming W. Georgia Street. Then, late-night southbound trips on all days continue east on W. Georgia Street, north on Seymour Street, west on W. Pender Street, and south on Howe Street to Howe & Dunsmuir Street. Early morning southbound trips on weekends/holidays continue east on W. Georgia Street to W. Georgia Street & Homer Street.
One southbound trip and two early morning northbound trips starting from W. Georgia Street & Homer Street on Sundays/holidays terminates at Lonsdale Quay. Some early morning weekend/holiday northbound trips and the first southbound trips daily start at Lonsdale Quay.

History
- Pre-2001 - Service operated as an Owl Service component of the 242 Vancouver/Upper Lonsdale
- October 2001 - All Owl routes cancelled due to funding shortfall[1]
- December 2004 - Service introduced as N24 Upper Lonsdale/Downtown NightBus and ran until 3:10AM seven days a week.[2] Service operated between Stadium Station and Prospect & Rockland at Upper Lonsdale with three northbound and one southbound trip and as a late-night component of the 242 Vancouver/Upper Lonsdale, which was a parallel evening and early morning weekend/holiday service
- April 2008 - Introduction of an additional northbound trip terminating at Lonsdale Quay and running Mondays–Saturdays
- September 2008 - Northbound Lonsdale Quay short-turn trip discontinued
- June 2009 - Introduction of an additional northbound trip travelling full distance to Upper Lonsdale. Southbound terminus revised from Cambie & Georgia to Dunsmuir & Granville
- September 2009 - Additional northbound trip introduced in June 2009 discontinued
- February 1–28, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Introduction of additional trips to provide 24-hour service between Downtown Vancouver and Lonsdale Quay only. Downtown terminus revised to Georgia & Cambie and Upper Lonsdale/Lonsdale Quay trips rerouted via Georgia, Cambie, Smithe, Homer, Georgia due to downtown pedestrian corridors and BC Place & Canada Hockey Place venue security zones[3]
- April 2010 - Southbound terminus revised from Dunsmuir & Granville to Howe & Dunsmuir
- June 2011 - All late-night 242 Upper Lonsdale/Vancouver amalgamated with the N24, resulting in a significant increase in service daily and start time pushed early into the late-evening hours.[4] Introduction of southbound short-turn trips at Lonsdale & 3rd
- September 2013 - Service to Upper Lonsdale discontinued. Northern terminus moved from Prospect at Rockland to Lynn Valley at Mountain Highway, introducing NightBus service along 29th Street.[5] Discontinuation of Lonsdale & 3rd short-turn trips except for one Sunday/holiday trip, routing from Lonsdale & 3rd via 3rd to St. Patricks
- September 2016 - North Vancouver Transit Centre closed down, operations moved to Burnaby Transit Centre. Discontinuation of the short-turn trip to 3rd & St. Patricks following the closure of North Vancouver Transit Centre and revised to terminate at Lonsdale Quay
- April 2020 - Early morning weekend/holiday service introduced following the amalgamation of the remaining 242 Lynn Valley/Vancouver trips with the N24. Downtown route diversion to Larwill Park introduced for these trips
- April 24–May 14, 2020 - Service suspended as part of cost-saving measures due to low ridership relating to the COVID-19 pandemic[6]
- April 2022 - Closure of Larwill Park: Early morning weekend/holiday trips revised to terminate and start at W. Georgia Street & Homer Street instead of Larwill Park
- April 2024 - First Sunday/holiday trip in the early morning departing from Lynn Valley advanced by 5 minutes from 6:05 a.m. to 6 a.m. to address passenger needs for an earlier arrival in downtown
