130 Willingdon is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Route Details
This is a north-south route connecting Metrotown Station and Brentwood Station in Burnaby, Kootenay Loop in Vancouver, and Phibbs Exchange in North Vancouver running primarily on Willingdon Avenue. It is a Frequent Transit Network (FTN) route with service 15 minutes or better for 15 hours or more of the day, seven days a week.
Northbound trips depart from Metrotown Station heading west on Central Boulevard, north on Willingdon Avenue, and west on Hastings Street to Kootenay Loop. Continuing from Kootenay Loop, trips continue west on E. Hastings Street, north on the Cassiar Connector onto Highway 1 and across the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge taking the Main Street exit, and west on Main Street to Phibbs Exchange.
Southbound trips depart from Phibbs Exchange heading north on the bus access road taking Highway 1 heading south across the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge and then the Cassiar Connector, and east on E. Hastings Street to Kootenay Loop. Continuing from Kootenay Loop, trips continue east on E. Hastings Street, south on Willingdon Avenue, and east on Central Boulevard to Metrotown Station.
Select northbound trips – primarily during peak hours or on early morning and late night trips – terminate at Kootenay Loop.
When school is in session, two southbound trips start from Willingdon Avenue & Moscrop Street and head towards Metrotown Station with no changes in routing.

History
- July 1961 - Service introduced as 30 Willingdon, a new crosstown service linking Kootenay Loop to Marine Drive in South Burnaby[1]
- August 1978 - Routing in both directions revised to take Hastings, Willingdon, Halifax, Willingdon instead of Hastings, Willingdon, Lougheed, Gilmore, Grandview Highway, Willingdon[2]
- October 1984 - Service rebranded from 30 Willingdon to 130 Suncrest/Kootenay Loop[3]
- March 1986 - Southern terminus moved to Metrotown Station, re-routed from Wildwood, Gilpin, and Burke to direct service along Willingdon. Service south of Metrotown Station replaced by the 116 Suncrest/Metrotown Station[4]
- June 1989 - Re-routed from Metrotown station to Central Boulevard (eastbound), Bonsor, Bennett, Nelson to regular route [5]
- October 1991 - Accessible service introduced on select trips[6]
- September 2001 - Metrotown Station reconstruction: terminus temporarily revised to Patterson Station[7]
- November 2001 - Metrotown Station reopens; service to Patterson Station discontinued[8]
- September 2002 - Introduction of 130 Brentwood Station short-turn trips when BCIT is in session during peak hours
- December 2003 - Introduction of peak hour overload trips to address overcrowding between Metrotown and BCIT, with one northbound AM trip from Metrotown and three southbound PM trips when BCIT is in session. PM afternoon trips used an articulated bus
- December 2006 - Route extended during daytime and early evening hours to service Phibbs Exchange; peak hour service extended to Capilano College (now Capilano University); an additional northbound trip is added to depart at 2:00 AM terminating on Hastings at Willingdon.[9] Interlining of most 130 To Hastings trips with the 137 Capitol Hill discontinued
- April 2007 - Peak-hour service to Capilano College revised to run only when Capilano College was in session for fall and spring semesters.
- September 2008 - Route joins the Frequent Transit Network (FTN)[10][11]
- December 2008 - Discontinuation of 130 BCIT and 130 Brentwood Station short-turn trips that ran when BCIT was in session in the AM peak and in reverse towards Metrotown Station during PM peak to provide consistent and increased service along the entire Willingdon corridor
- April 2009 - Capilano Transit Exchange opens. Service along Purcell Way ends[12] [13]
- September 2009 - Peak service increased to 15 minutes with peak trips departing from Capilano University terminating at Kootenay Loop instead of Phibbs Exchange[14]
- February 1–28, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Introduction of additional late-night trips to connect with extended late-night SkyTrain service[15]
- June 2017 - Trips terminating at Pender and Willingdon changed to display 130 To Pender instead of 130 To Hastings
- September 2017 - Various service increases:
- AM rush and PM rush increased from every 7–8 minutes to every 6–7 minutes
- Saturday evening service increased from every 15–20 minutes to every 12–15 minutes
- April 2020 - Peak hour extension to Capilano University discontinued and replaced by the 245 Capilano University/Phibbs Exchange.[16] Pender short-turn trips revised to operate on weekends/holidays only and weekday Pender short-turn trips extended to Kootenay Loop
- September 2020 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Daytime frequency daily adjusted to every 10 minutes from every 6–9 minutes
- September 2021 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Peak hour frequency increased from every 10 minutes to every 7–9 minutes. Weekday midday service increased from every 10 minutes to every 7–8 minutes. Early morning and late afternoon/evening weekend/holiday service reduced from every 10–12 minutes to every 15 minutes
- January 2022 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Early weekday morning service reduced from every 10 minutes to every 15 minutes
- April 2023 - Introduction of southbound trips originating from Brentwood Station during the AM and PM rush
- July 24, 2023 - Phibbs Exchange upgrades: Terminus moved onto street-side exchange on Orwell Street
- September 2023 - Introduction of a southbound school trip starting from Brentwood Station to address overcrowding at Moscrop Secondary School. Discontinuation of a northbound school special 130 To Pender trip operated by Hamilton Transit Centre starting from Willingdon Avenue & Deer Lake Parkway
- January 2024 - Service renamed from 130 Metrotown Station/Kootenay Loop/Phibbs Exchange to 130 Willingdon. Destination signs began to be gradually updated as early as late December 2023
- January 15, 2024 - Phibbs Exchange upgrades: Terminus moved from Orwell Street to inside Phibbs Exchange following the partial completion of the new loop
- May 6, 2024 - Completion of Phibbs Exchange upgrades. Stop relocated inside the new loop
- September 2024 - Southbound school tripper starting from Brentwood Station introduced in September 2023 revised to start from Willingdon Avenue & Moscrop Street to avoid the bus filling up at BCIT prior to arriving at Moscrop Secondary School
- October 28, 2024 - Introduction of an additional southbound school tripper operated by Port Coquitlam Transit Centre starting from Willingdon Avenue & Moscrop Street to address overcrowding
- January 2025 - Various service increases:
- All midday weekday northbound trips extended from Kootenay Loop to Phibbs Exchange, with service across to the North Shore increased from every 20–30 minutes to every 10 minutes
- PM peak hour shoulder northbound service adjusted to have alternating trips between Kootenay Loop and Phibbs Exchange to even out headways roughly every 7–8 minutes
- Weekday evening northbound trips all revised to go to Phibbs Exchange, with service across to the North Shore increased from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes
- Discontinuation of all 130 To Pender short-turn trips as all daytime northbound weekend/holiday service is revised to travel the full length to Phibbs Exchange
- All former 130 Kootenay Loop weekend/holiday trips also extended to Phibbs Exchange, resulting in an increase of service from every 15–20 minutes to every 12–15 minutes on Saturdays, and from every 30–60 minutes to every 15 minutes on Sundays/holidays for the full route length as opposed to every 15–20 minutes between Metrotown and Kootenay Loop only
- Adjustments to Moscrop Secondary School afternoon tripper from Willingdon & Moscrop to Metrotown Station to address extreme overcrowding:
- Existing school tripper departing at 1509 advanced to 1515
- Trip introduced on October 28, 2024, departing at 1514 revised to 1510. Operations revised to Hamilton Transit Centre from Port Coquitlam Transit Centre
- April 2025 - Operations for the school tripper departing from Willingdon & Moscrop at 1510 transferred from Hamilton Transit Centre to Burnaby Transit Centre
- September 2025 - Various service increases:
- Weekday midday service increased from every 7–10 minutes to every 6–9 minutes
- Weekday evening service increased from every 14–19 minutes to every 12 minutes
- Weekday last departure from Phibbs Exchange advanced from 2120 to 2135 with the introduction of an extra southbound trip to Metrotown Station
- Saturday midday service increased from every 13–15 minutes to every 10–12 minutes
