56 Cultus Lake is a seasonal local route operated by Chilliwack Transit System in Chilliwack, BC. [1]

Route Description

Route 56 is a seasonal route connecting Chilliwack to the recreation facilities in Cultus Lake, including Cultus Lake, Cultus Lake Provincial Park, Cultus Lake Waterpark, and Cultus Lake Adventure Park. Service operates from the last week in June to Labour Day. It operates from the intersection of Promontory Drive and Vedder Road via south on Vedder Road and Columbia Valley Highway to loop on Sunnyside Boulevard at Cultus Lake Elementary School.

History

  • Pre-2003: Service existed as an unnumbered route running between Downtown Chilliwack and Cultus Lake
  • September 2, 2003: Service numbered as route 9 Cultus Lake Summer Shuttle Loop [2]
  • July 2, 2012: Service renumbered from 9 to 6 as part of the 2012 network restructuring. Routing truncated from Downtown Chilliwack to Vedder/Promontory [3]
  • March 27, 2022: Service renumbered from 6 to 56 as part of the consolidation of route numbers in the Fraser Valley due to the rollout of NextRide [4]
