Route Description

Route 51 is the mainline and most frequent route within Chilliwack, operating along Vedder Road and Yale Road between the University of the Fraser Valley and Downtown Chilliwack.

History

  • July 2, 2012: Service introduced as route 1 Vedder between Downtown and Keith Wilson as part of the 2012 network restructuring [2][3]
    • Mon-Wed: Every 20 minutes from ~7:30 to 18:30
    • Thu-Fri: Every 20 minutes from ~7:30 to 20:30
    • Sat: Every 20 minutes from ~8:30 to 20:30
    • Sun: Every 60 minutes from ~9:30 to 18:00
  • September 1, 2013: Southern routing extended to UFV, northern routing extended to Menzies St. Service on Mon-Sat extended to ~22:00 [4]
  • August 31, 2014: Weekday service extended to run from ~7:00 to 23:00 [5]
  • September 5, 2017: Rush hour frequency increased to 15 minutes [6]
  • September 4, 2018: Additional early morning trips added to connect with route 66 Fraser Valley Express [7]
  • March 27, 2022: Service renumbered from 1 to 51 as part of the consolidation of route numbers in the Fraser Valley due to the rollout of NextRide [8]
