Altoona Metro Transit

Altoona Metro Transit or AMTRAN (officially Transportation and Motor Buses for Public Use Authority) is the public transit service for the City of Altoona and Blair County, Pennsylvania.

History

• Became the first transit authority in Pennsylvania in October 1959, taking over from the Logan Valley Bus Company.
• Started off using the name Altoona & Logan Township Bus Authority, changed to the current name in March 1977.
• Running of the system was contracted to ATE Management & Services from 1975 until March 1997.

It is unknown if any other units were retrofitted. It was scrapped in 03/2021 due to rust. 405 was bought by a scrap yard. 402 is preserved by the Museum of Bus Transportation in Hershey, PA.
