Philadelphia had seen its 1st new generation Nova LFS debuted on the road since late March of 2014. SEPTA has 245 4th generation Nova LFS in 40ft and 60ft in both hybrids and diesels on their way. However, this 2013 Nova LFS 40ft which actually arrived in 2014 is operated by Krapf's on Navy Yard Shuttle seen at 6th and Market Street, so it made its debut as the 1st new generation 40ft Nova LFS on the road.

Would have to be changes made to the PA state law then for them to legally operate unless they apply for a wavier.

From what I heard from sources (on our FB group page Philadelphia Transit Vehicles), the state law has changed to accomodate these buses now. That is just what I heard. Now I have to look up laws on that now.

Finally, some good news for SEPTA riders, Nova Bus has started delivery of the first order of 60ft. hybrids...there's a news story about this on the Phila. Inquirer online.

7306 will enter service soon. BOUT TIME! Can't wait to get home and visit... think I will go to the rodeo.

Hi,

Going through some of my photos from May, I have a picture of a 2014 (4th Gen) LFS on a road test in Laval. It's all-white and it's fleet number is 8141. Anyone know who this may belong to?

Unknown 8141 - Back.jpgUnknown 8141 - Front.jpg

Thanks,

Alex

Well, the SEPTA Novas are in service: the LFSA HEV's on routes 33 & 48 and the LFS HEVs on route 23 in Philadelphia. A lot of mixed reviews about these buses in Philly. I actually wanna get home and check em out.

That is good, like anything new they may need a little teething period. I have not heard too many complaints on the the CTA order, though 40' clean diesels were ordered, not 40' and 62' hybrids.

There is a production hold up from what I heard. TTC and SEPTA were large orders but are coming to an end. Next to be done are the remaining 2014 orders for other Transit systems then I believe and I could be wrong but Metrolinx orders and separate orders are next

SEPTA's order is far from over...it's a year behind schedule...they've only received 12 of their 90 40ft buses and 26 0f 185 60ft buses...the order is scheduled to be completed within two years.

This link has some info on the LFS's natural gas system. According to the 2nd page the CNG tanks have a 20-year tank certification. (Dated August 2013).

I believe the LFS is using an Agility CNG system, which is a pretty good system. I believe MCI is using it on their CNG commuter coaches and possibly Gillig for their CNG buses.

There is some reason to believe that Nova is behind on their production goals and contract timelines.

I wonder if its just arctics that they are behind on or 40 foot buses as well?

Does Nova have separate production lines for 40 footers and articulated buses?

What about the Prevost coaches, are they built in the same building?
