a.dicion
Anyone know why Nova is calling these LFS "Smart" buses? Because CTA has spec'd the order to have: http://www.novabus.com/documents/Fiche%20technique/LFS_SMART_BUS_EN.pdf
MAX BRT
Because CTA has spec'd the order to have: http://www.novabus.c...MART_BUS_EN.pdf GREAT PDF, thanks for sharing! "The centerpiece of the LFS SMART BUS is the Nova eCooling system - our proprietary electric engine cooling system engineered to minimize your vehicle life cycle costs. It improves fuel economy by up to 18%, reduces maintenance costs and greenhouse gas emissions. To maximize the performance of your vehicle, we are taking the electrification of our bus components even further with the development of Electric Air Conditioning and Electric Power Steering options." RailBus63
Anyone know why Nova is calling these LFS "Smart" buses? The same reason that companies for decades have been putting 'New and Improved!' on products with only minor changes
knowba
Here is a newer spec sheet. It shows that the CNG is available, but only for the 40' and not the artic. http://www.novabus.com/documents/Fiche%20technique/SpectSheet_EN.pdf

It shows that the CNG is available, but only for the 40' and not the artic. http://www.novabus.c...ectSheet_EN.pdf Sweet! One thing that jumps out is that the LFS artic is 62'. The competitor Xcelsior is 60 feet 10 inches (counting the bumpers) http://www.newflyer.com/index/xcelsior_specifications LFS does not offer the BAE hybrid on an artic. New Flyer does. Andru
Talking about CNG, here's a sneak preview of the first LFS CNG demo, hiding behind a hybrid demo. Technically this belongs in a 'LFS 4th Generation' thread though as this bus has the new rear cap. Also note the STM-inspired livery in dark blue. patfromigh
I posted a link on the Metro Transit thread for the Minneapolis- Saint Paul, MN Metropolitan Council's, youtube video, of the Red Line BRT. niatrans10
according to the wiki, Stratford Transit 1370 is a 3rd-Gen, so if I'm not mistaken, 1396-1397 in Niagara Falls are the first production 4th-Gens?

MAX BRT
Yes. Maybe we need a new thread for the 4th gen LFS
MaT
Maybe we need a new thread for the 4th gen LFS This thread is fine for it. No need to have a thread for a specific generation of a bus when you can cover all of it in this thread.
stm_5307N
This thread is fine for it. No need to have a thread for a specific generation of a bus when you can cover all of it in this thread. If that's the case, then the title of this thread needs to be changed so it doesn't seem like its for 3rd gen discussion.
G.A
Now my curious question! Who got the last 3rd gen??
Andru
I'm curious as to why the pilot of the TTC Artic order (9000) was built as a 3rd gen if the rest of the order will (likely?) have 4th gen specs. Nova had the tooling to build it as a 4th gen from the start, so something doesn't add up.
FlyerD901
Just a demo probably, similar to the others they got. ie RTS 1000, LFS 1001, and many others.

We don't know at this time as Nova engineering is still working on it!
FlyerD901
So the 40ft models are being updated to 4th Gen. Not the Artics?

FlyerD901
Ok, so 9000 isn't a Demo after all. Oh well, I still had hope in the rear window.
