Stolen Photos!

Recommended Posts

Earlier, I reported the thread to Flickr, and apparently, they can't do much.

Hello,

The Flickr team greatly respects the intellectual propertyof photographers. Issues of infringement are handled for usby the specialists within the Yahoo! Copyright Team. Please direct the photographer to click on the "Copyright/IP" link that's available in the footer of every page to reach their Yahoo! Copyright Team, where they will be able to file a Notice of Infringement.

Ha! La Presse (le quotidien français le plus épais d'Amérique) stole this map I made for their Métro 40th anniversary issue...

tMetroMontreal_FuturPasse.gif

They didn't even bother to change the colours or the typography (the font I use is never used by La Presse)...

They can do lots. You just need to follow the proper procedures.

I once had some photos of mine stolen by a bus operator who put them on their website! I tried to charge said operator £20 for the right to use the photos and they removed them.

Those of you who have Fotopic accounts - like me - can put watermarks on photos by doing the following:

After logging in:

1. Click "Copyright Protection"

2. Under "Watermark Settings", put something like "© Dave Harries, Bristol, UK"

3. Select where you want the watermark to appear, as well as the size, transparency and colour of the watermark

4. Set "Allow right-click on gallery pages" to "No".

5. Save Changes

Then, for added security, do the following:

6. Click "Gallery Settings"

7. Click "Photo Settings"

8. Set the following to "No":

- Sending of eCards

- Download of photos as PDF files

- Access to original images

- Show button for printer-friendly photo page

- Fragment of full-size photo on info popup

9. Change what happens when the photo is clicked on. Doesn't matter what you set it to as long as you don't set it to allow access to original image.

10. Save Changes

That should be enough to protect you from any (.......) wanting to pinch your photos.

HTH,

Dave

This guy seems to fall into this category :D

A couple obvious ones:

One from busdrawings.

Mine, I added a comment. Actually I don't mind if someone wants a photo of mine for their photostream, just ask me first please.

Yes, a lot from busdrawings.com and a few from my website as well as others.

At least he kept the watermarks on the images.

Probably some kid who likes the photos, or an internet noob that knows no better :D

The pros usually remove the watermarks...

Got to admit he did assemble a nice collection of Winnipeg Flyer's!

As others stated, at least the watermarks are still on the images. However, I guess I just don't see the need to duplicate images that's already posted on other sites on the web. Someone wants to see them, come see them where they were originally posted. I have not decided what I am going to do about this just yet....

Yep... I even putted another comment onto him:

"I thought about adding Winnipeg buses too. I was born and raised in Winnipeg."

MegaMoonLiner said :

"Yeah, but at least you should have had added HIS credits. The photo DOESN'T belong to you!"

I can't stand people to use others' photos, just because of something related to their childhood, or supposedly good moments in their lives!

Is there a Frank Denardo in the house? If not, has anybody else on this board heard this name before?

He's an oddball all right. I've called him out on some stolen photos before to no answer. He mostly just posts really inane comments on most of my bus photos.

I guess he's one of the "special" ones...ugh.

I usually just post the larger images here and on BusTalk -- my stuff on Flickr isn't viewable in large sizes unless someone asks. Haven't had an issue yet, but then again, my photography sucks...

I'll tell him, he's on the forum. (DavidW)

You did good, 'cuz that guy has the imagery removed. I dunno if his account has been cancelled as well, but I hope so.

Yet another collection of stolen photos posted on flickr with photo credits stripped from the images. Most of these have been stolen from the www.barp.ca and www.busdrawings.com website.

I will say this again, what is the point of duplicating what is already posted on the web??

Is this from someone that is a member of this board? If so, please remove these images from that website. I never gave anyone permission to post them anywhere else.

Why can't the images just be viewed on the website where they were originally posted? I just don't get it.

I sure hope he has no more to come. I am so fucking sick and tired of this. People have no respect for the original photographers, or those of us who have enabled these images to be avalilble for all to see.

Perhaps we should just remove all out of our older photos?
