Missing in Action buses

I wonder how far into the future they will be able to 3D print body panels instead of having to build a mould and then have them in stock and ship them. You could even pick the colour of plastic you want rather than having to paint it

Considering that would need Transport Canada to approve such a method after rigorous testing, don't hold your breath for the near future. One day they'll be able to 3D print metal buses, streetcars and subways. When that day comes, good bye manufacturing jobs.

On the bright side, everyone can 3D print their own working fishbowl then ?

It was a fist sized hole in the fiberglass immediately above the entrance door. That’s it.

1242 is down, likely permanently. It dropped an exhaust valve seat on cylinder #6, piston didn’t like that.

I think that one and 1206 are most likely retired now.

TTC 1362 has been mia since the beginning of February 2021.

Both buses are likely placed in storage not decommissioned. The wiki on the pages doesn’t even mentioned the storage portion on the units. Anyone from the maintenance dept would have to confirm if any of the two are off the roster since the trackers on #1242 and #1362 are still on despite the absence of #1206.

The trackers on 1242 and 1362 aren’t active, they are turned off. After a certain amount of time if the bus doesn’t report new data, the tracker will no longer show the last tracker location like in the case of 1206.

You strangely made the same case with 1346 a while back which was already confirmed retired.

That's BS. The GPS is off once the bus is shut down. NextBus is just a host the stores the last time in epoch time (the last millisecond of the specific date) the GPS was online and submitted data to Nextbus.

Once in a while NextBus purges all the data. If you happen to access whatever app right after the purge, you'll only find units in operation trackable. Slowing in the next few days, all the active units will get it's chance to report to nextbus when someone turns them on. All you know is 1242 was online a month ago after the last purge. 1206 wasn't active after that event.

1242 is at Harvey, 1206 is being parted out.

It’s tracking at Hillcrest, undergoing repairs.

Can 9000 be classified as a MIA bus? It's been at Hillcrest since mid-November, which I think makes it the longest rebuild period for the artics? Does it being the pilot have anything to do with it?

9000 and 9116 are the remaining artics that haven't returned to their respective divisions since they were sent to Hillcrest for rebuild. Duncan's hoists were being rebuilt so maybe that's why 9000 and 9116 are still there but I'm not 100% sure if that is the reason.

I've added 9000 and 9116 to the MIA list.

Also, 1314 has been MIA for a few weeks.
