Hey bus_7246, curious to know if you spotted any 9400s at Hillcrest? Thanks for posting your sightings and pics.

7592 is back at Hillcrest, parked outside of Duncan. Here's what I captured of the bus and its cameras 

 

#7307, #7336 in the deadline next to it. Is that #8058 on the left side on the top pic? You might get a closer look of it.

Hey dayone, I didn't notice any 9400s at Hillcrest. But it is for certain that these 2nd gen VII HEVs have been unofficially retired:

1256, 1295, 1300, 1517, 1599 & 1671

1256, 1517 and 1671 retiring was due to extensive vehicle fires. 1295, 1300 and 1599 are all gone due to severe front end collisions.

You are correct. The silouette of the GM in the background is 8058

You are correct. The silouette of the GM in the background is 8058

So that means the count from #1200-#1423 is at 221 and #1500-#1689 at 187? I wonder the next bus order or this bus order will replace the three along with #1256 and #1671 just like what the last two buses from #8335-#8396 did as replacements to the fire victims.

thanks.  It must be a big job since I had been trying to hunt it down for the  past month.  Also 9040 has been inactive for the past week or 2.

8395 and 8396 were bought to replace 1517 and 7308.

1256 and 1671 retired officially after those were bought. I'm pretty sure they bought an extra artic or two to replace them.The 153 artics were to replace 185 Orion V's but had a capacity to replace ~200 buses. Of course due to a naive planning move by the TTC, the artics replaced less buses than expected.

9012 is dead after March 7.

9027, 9032, 9041, 9063 and 9107 haven't seen service this month.

Lots of them are out of service. We're only seeing about 125 of them in service on average with a high of 128ish. On a bad day (recently in the past 2 weeks), there's only 118 or 119 of them in service out of 153. That's 23% of them not in service. Back in April, there used to be a high of 138ish in service. With only ~125ish on a bad day. 

There's no surprise that the Wilson units are doing the worst as they run every day. Arrow units take second place as their units suffer from heavy duty usage on the 36 but they get the weekends off. Malvern units are better off with the majority of them resting outside peak periods. For MtD, on a good day, all 17 artics head out for service. MtD artics see the least service with only a handful of them in off peak and almost always none beyond 10pm.

IIRC that was for 7461, which was involved in that collision with the crane a few years back.

I don't think #9040 or #9091 could hit the scrap heap just yet since they are two years old. Otherwise, they should've at least send the buses back to the Nova plant and get new parts for the two. If not, that means the number of articulated buses in the order would be down to 151. 

I'm getting the feeling TTC is going to be in a massive bus shortage since some of the artics have been out of service for a while.

Depends, just because something is new doesn't mean its worth repairing. 1517 retired after a year or two of service.

Some of these buses are probably still under warranty? Hopefully the 8400 are doing much better.

Highly doubt it. They probably just don't have the right parts for it. Lots of 8500s are here early so there isn't any shortage as it seems. Plus it's summer and school is out.

I meant it's the second time Alex guessed 9091 hasn't returned to service because of a fire. Not the second time the artic had a fire incident
