Out of ordinary Calgary Transit bus spottings

I think future after 7600,s retire , AG will full up XD40.

I highly doubt that. AG usually gets the older buses and whatnot. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of Novas went south.

Don't Angry me what i say:

I talk to AG guys , I can see they working so hard For Every buses they get, But because the bus was so old, And they are short people, plus short buses, they just send out BO buses in Service, For Example the Sign was not work, the heater was not work. For south passenger, they always Ask the drive they want air conditioning in summer, but drive tell than the AC bus only run at north, the passenger was get piss off.

I talk to that route 11 drive about what he feeling about the new bus, He tell me he wish can get those XD40 every day, He working in calgary transit for 38 year, this is his first time get the Air Conditioning buses in his Career.

If Calgary Transit Smart, they should send 50 XD40 in AG, 50 XD40 in VP, 50 stay in SG, because every rider was pay $3.30 for rider the bus, but only the north people get new toys, South get the old buses every day.

I am a bus inspectors in China for 2 year, Every year, Every buses in GuangZhou was get check by government, Form Tier, Disc brake, Automatic Transmission, Engines to interior, seat. If we have a bus broke down in the road, the company will get fine by the Government, IF a bus leakage any oil in the road, that bus company will have to get pay for clean up. Every bus company buy the best bus they can buy in the market, to make the passenger happy, And ride that again,In GuangZhou, China, Will be 100% Electric buses in the fleet, some new buses even have all wheel steering.

here ain't no such thing as a free lunch

Well Here's the problem, AG is Monday to Friday only and hardly any evening/late night runs. It makes no sense to have brand new buses at AG.

Also with the idea of moving new buses to Ag in pretty sure there is a height clearance issue in the service lane area if memory serves so modifications would have to be made.

Personally, I could more easily picture some of SG’s D40LF’s (7800’s) or D40LFR’s transferred to AG. XD40’s seem a little far fetched to me.

As for Novas, correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t SG the only garage able to keep them because they use Urea in their fuel? I do recall reading something like that on this board several years ago. Is that still the case?

The DEF (urea) was not going to the fuel, DEF was going to DEF Tank than going to Selective Catalytic Reduction system, NOVA, NFI XD40,XD60, VICINITY, DURAMAX ARBOC ALL have that system after EPA2010.

The Diesel exhaust fluid is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water.

Don't forget about 6064-6093 which use Urea as well.   And you know where those are based.....

The after treament system was very exapensive in maintain, That why i think the CT went to the cng fleet in future was very smart Selected.

The after treament system also have a lot the electronic  in side, Just like 747-8 or 747-400 compared the 747-200. The CNG engine(cummins L9N) only have Three-Way Catalyst, so the engine will be less electronic like the diesel does.

but Cummins natureal gas engine have spark plug.

Spotted 7863 on an Anderson key route 20 this morning. Not sure if this unit has moved to Anderson or not. But it is the first I knew of that one on an Anderson run.  This block: https://transit55.ca/calgary/block?id=4784923

And this block had 7863 the other day: https://transit55.ca/calgary/block?id=4785295

And this block is also AG: https://transit55.ca/calgary/block?id=4785018

This is probably due to the fact that they need so many big buses for the ctrain shuttles

Would make sense. Forgot to mention 1737 was on the 32/46 as well
