-Route #2 is now going to "La Plaza de la Mauricie" instead of route #1.

-Service is beggining earlier on Sunday morning 08h55 instead of 10h55.

-Acces-Bus service has been ameliorated.

This fall, the R.T.C.S. will buy 3-4 Eldorado EZ-Rider, with a new paint scheme, to replace their old Classics

What the? I do understand they need smaller buses for their quiet town but how did they get away from Provincial order that must be build locally?

Well, the R.T.C.S. is operate by a private compagnie Transport Urbain de la Mauricie (T.U.M.). So, I don't think that they are obligated to buy only buses that were made in Quebec.

I think any private company (like the Montreal area CITs) are allowed to buy any bus that is not made entirely or partly in Quebec.

Well yes, surely a private company can buy from anywhere they want. The only reason companies like the STM are obligated to buy locally is that they are either run by the government, or heavily funded by the government, and it's therefore part of their mandate to support Quebec's economy...

I got confused looking at the wiki. Are most of those buses active that are listed on the wiki ? It seems like there summer service only uses 2 buses ? Seems like kinda low with the amount of buses on the wiki.

The R.T.C.S. Shawinigan used to need 4 buses in the summer, but starting this year with the transit reorganization they now need only 2 buses in the summer. Anyway, believe me they need these buses.

They need 4 buses to operate the transit on the regular season (august to may), another one is required on peak hours to operate a school shuttle. Their current fleet is currently made of 8 buses, so they only have 3 buses left as "spare" and they really need them. Their buses tend to brake down quite often, sometimes they even need to lease some school bus when they have a lack of buses.

Current fleet (8 buses)

1 Gm Classic 1984 (1009)

2 Gm Classic 1986 (1001 & TUM-03)

3 M.C.I. Classic 1990 (1005, 1010 & TUM-01)

1 Novabus Classic 1994 (1007)

1 Novabus R.T.S. 2001 (1008)

As I said earlier, before the end of the year they will receive 3-4 Eldorado EZ-Rider II Max, to replace some old Classics.

Fleet at the end of 2009:

1 M.C.I. Classic 1990 (1010 or TUM-01)

1 Novabus Classic 1994 (1007)

1 Novabus R.T.S. 2001 (1008)

3-4 Eldorado EZ-Rider II Max 2009.

*By the way, if the wiki is confusing, I will clean it up soon!

Nice.

When did they acquire 1009, 1010, and TUM-03?

I know 60-037 was sold in late 2004, so that's a given...

#1009 was acquired in 2003.

#1010 (previously TUM-02) was acquired in 2004.

TUM-03 was acquired in 2005. Has been put in service only in 2007.

Thanks for the info. Another few questions...

1) Why did they name some buses with TUM as the prefix?

2) Any of these ex-RTL/ex-STM buses have the original interior with possibly the former interior fleet number still inside?

TUM is well for Transport Urbain de la Mauricie. All the buses that were acquired in 2004+ were numbered TUM-xx, except for #1010 that was renamed from TUM-02 for some strange reasons. By the way, before 2004 Transport Urbain de la Mauricie, used to be name Autobus LPR.

TUM-03 (ex-STM #56-066) still have original interior, but the inside fleet numbers are gone, but we could still see their traces. TUM-01 (Ex-STM #60-037) also has the original interior and even have a Novabus L.F.S. steering wheel, which the S.T.M. often do with the Classics

STTR

I’m now back from vacation, so I got to see the details of some important transit news.

The summer schedule is now effective, since Sunday, June 21st until Saturday, August 22nd.

Transit News:

First, Route #2 Papineau/Sanctuaire is now going to l’Île Saint-Quentin for the 3rd year. The buses are serving l’Île Saint-Quentin everyday from 11h00 to 19h00. There will also be extra trip going to the Island when it’s the "Ciné-Campus nights" (movies presentation).

The new bus terminal, at Les Galeries du Cap, has been inaugurated on June 15th. This project cost 425 000$ to realized.

"Festi-Voix": For the second year, there will be a free shuttle operating on Fridays and Saturdays nights, from 17h00 to 00h10. People who use the shuttle parked their cars in the parking lot of the Cegep (Papineau/Marguerite-Bourgeois). The shuttle brings people to downtown. The shuttle will be doing a departure in each direction, at every 30 minutes.

By the way, people who have a passport for the “Festi-Voix”, are allowed to use transit for free; Monday to Friday: 17h00 to 00h10, Saturday: 12h00 to 00h10 & Sunday: 08h45 to 19h10. The festival is starting on Friday, June 26th and finishing on Sunday, July 5th.

"Rendez-Vous des Coureurs des Bois": There will be a shuttle on Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th, for "Le Rendez-Vous des Coureurs des Bois". The shuttle will connect Chavigny High School to Parc Antoine-Gauthier. The shuttle should be doing a departure in each direction, at every 45 minutes. It will be in operation from 11h15 to 18h00.

Here is a list of Places where people can board the shuttle: Chavigny High School, Pavillons des Seigneurs and Pointe-du-Lac Church.

The new bus terminal in downtown, won’t be ready for the middle of July as it was planned. The only reason is that the bus shelters won’t arrive before the end of July. Meanwhile, the lighting equipment will be installed this week. The driver’s toilet will be installed next week. The project should now be complete by the middle of August. This project cost 1 000 000$ to realize.

Finally, routes #9, 10 & 12 will now be in service on Sundays. Yes, you read well route #9 Pointe-du-Lac, #10 Sainte-Marthe & #12 Saint-Louis-de-France will be in service on Sundays.

The routes will be in operations on the same schedule then the others bus routes, with some minor exceptions. In the facts, route #9 & #10 will be starting 15 minutes earlier then the other bus routes, and route #12 will be starting 30 minutes earlier then the other bus routes, but finishing 5 minutes earlier.

Here are the schedules for each bus route;

STTR

The "Festi-Voix" shuttle will be in service tonight and tomorrow night, for the last week-end of the Festi-Voix.

The city of Trois-Rivères will celebrate its 375th birthday tomorrow. To celebrate, a tribute show will be presented in Downtown, at the Parc Portuaire. This show named "Tapiskwan Sipi" will be presented on the same stage, as all the shows that are currently being presented for the Festi-Voix. So another shuttle service will be in place.

This free shuttle will be operation tomorrow, from 15h00 to 00h00. Their will be a departure in each direction at every 30 minutes from 15h00 to 17h00, and at every 15 minutes from 17h00 to 00h00. The shuttle will bring people to downtown, at l’Édifice Capitanale (corner of Notre-Dame Centre/Laviolette).

People can board the shuttle at the following places; Galeries du Cap, Centre Les Rivières & Carrefour T-R-O. These are the 3 main shopping centres of the city. People who use the shuttle are allowed to park their cars at these places.

In downtown, when people want to go back to the different shopping centres, they have to wait the shuttle to come at l’Édifice Capitanale again (corner of Notre-Dame Centre/Laviolette).

Resume of July 4th:

Tomorrow (Saturday)

Here is a list of all the shuttles that will be in service;

"Festi-Voix" shuttle, connections between the Cegep Parking lot and Downtown: 2 Buses required.

"Rendez-Vous des Coureurs des Bois" shuttle, connections between Chavigny High school and Parc Antoine-Gauthier : 1 Bus required.

375th birthday/"Tapiskwan Sipi" shuttle, connections between the 3 main shopping centres and Downtown (Édifice Capitanale): 6 Buses required.

P.S.: I already talked about the first 2 shuttles, see my previous post.

So tomorrow will be a big day, for the STTR!!!

How is it different that the previous one? Is it still on street? I'm sorry, I don't know much about STTR despite your feeding us information.

It is no longer on a street and the main difference with this new terminal is that it's really looking like a bus Terminal. This new terminal is having space for 8 buses at the same time. The old terminal was located at the intersection Badeaux/Saint-Georges and the new one is at the intersection Champlain/Saint-Georges, which is about 1 block away from the old one.

If you look at this map, it's the big black rectangle, on Champlain St.;

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=...mp;t=h&z=18

Finally, you can see a partial picture of it, that was taken by a local Newspaper:
