webfil
STM is putting out of service all of its 12 Azur trains in order to investigate about the tire mishap that occured when last Saturday night. This incident had forced the STM to stop the service on Orange line between Côte-Vertu and Plamondon for several hours.
Jack 47
Does the STM still have enough rolling-stock to maintain full service? As North America's third-busiest subway system and the extreme level of passenger traffic on the Metro these days, they need to be very careful about retiring the MR-63 fleet. As was mentioned before, preserving a small portion of the MR-63 fleet (to be retired with the MR-73's) for service-ready status and maintaining a stockpile of parts from retired trains would be financially prudent. The Azurs certainly have produced their fair share of additional cost issues, one glaring example being the fact that the STM will need to add two or more trains on the Orange line to maintain current levels of service, due in most part to the fact that it is a generally SLOWER train because it spends more time at each station than the MR-73 or MR-63 models. However, the interior design of the Azurs is unrivaled among late-model subway cars.

The STM plays it off as customers will only wait 30-45 seconds more for their MR-73 on the orange line, but keep in mind that even when it runs with all the trains, they are all crushloaded at rush hour especially on the eastern branch! The lesson that ought to be learned is that the STM needs to keep a strategic reserve of MR-63s instead of retiring units that could still help out. Yes space might be an issue but I am certain the overpaid executives can figure it out.

anyfong
Also on a closed facebook group there is an Azur train numbered 10-521/10-529 with photograph of it. Seems like the last train has been delivered before all others. Wondering why that has occurred.
MrBeardedBread
I was in Montreal back in August 2015. It's a shame that I never got to see the Azur trains in action. From the pictures I see, they're beautiful.

chriskayTO
Hey there - I'm heading to Montreal this weekend for a visit, and I really want to check out the Azur trains - what's the best way to make sure I can find one? From what I understand they're almost exclusively on the orange line right now. Are they quite prevalent? Thanks for any tips!

You answered your own question, the Azurs are on the Orange line and they are easy to find it.. Also there was 2 Azurs on the Green line (Set 21 and 25) but i havent heard if they are running on weekends on the line

Kalibur
Hi, I'm Kalibur, I'm from Montreal. Seems like there's a lot of plans for transit here, we've got the REM coming up, the extension of the Blue line, and the (possible) Pink line. Is it likely all 3 will happen? It would be nice to have a metro line that goes to Montreal North, or towards there. I'm wondering how long it would take for an entire Pink line to be built vs. how long it would take to add a few stations on Blue line. It seems like the Blue line idea would be more efficient, since they don't have to start from scratch. In that article you posted, it said the Blue line was completed in about 2 years? I had a feeling it would take a lot longer than that... According to Montreal Metro's Blue line: What we know and what we don't about long-awaited extension Completed by 2026 Couillard said Monday the Metro extension would be completed by 2026, and that expropriation is already underway. A bus rapid transit system (BRT) is also in the works along Pie-IX Boulevard. That project involves designating an 11-kilometre, reserved bus lane to link Montreal to Laval. Construction on the Pie-IX BRT is expected to begin this fall and be ready in 2022.
