BusRider
19 might be retired. I spotted it in the back of the yard with the Orion's. It still has it's licence plates on it so I assume it's sitting there because it might be waiting for repairs.
highfive
so how are the buses allocated? im guessing the mci classics run to the industreal area, rte 12. are the new flyers and single nova bus perhaps on the rte 1,6 and 10? and likely eldorados and cutaways for rte 3,7,9,20,21? highfive
11 new buses; which remaining ones are likely to be retired? Based on what some other transit agencies have retired, bus 1-5 and 16,17,18,19,44 might be retired. That leaves the 2001 D40LFs, a refurbished 1993 D40LF, a refurbished 1995 D40LF, a refurbished 1996 Nova Bus(?), 4 Ez Riders, plus the 11 new buses. That could bring the fleet up to 20 buses. My understanding is that there are 13 buses used for peak periods. That means 35% of the fleet will be spare. Is Brandon Transit planning to extend service, increase routes. Would some of the refurbished D40LFs be retired?

BusRider
Brandon Transit WILL be getting 11 "Low Floor Buses" from New Flyer sometime in late September. Still no word on what size they will be. Most likely D30LF and D40LF.
highfive
Brandon Transit WILL be getting 11 "Low Floor Buses" from New Flyer sometime in late September. Still no word on what size they will be. Most likely D30LF and D40LF. The new flyer d40lfr might be the best option due to economies of scale. A d30lfr and a d40lfr are only $50,000 difference in price. I wonder if it would make more sense for Brandon Transit to order 3 buses per year for the next 4 years? Then in succession Brandon Transit could retire 1-5, 16,17,18,19,15,44,45,46. Based on previous rebuild, bus 45 and 15 could last another 2 to 4 years at least and the MCI Classics should hold up decently. Is the Brandon order autonomous to other orders or did they combine with another city to get a multiple cost savings?
tovinman
Uh oh.... There goes last remaining Brandon Orion I? I wonder what else is up for replacement. I suppose The Classics and the 1994-95 D40LF's? I'd say the older D40LF is prbably safe (though they oughta drive them all off the ridge) They will not be D40LFs. There are no more D40LFs. They will either be D40LFr or XD40LF (or maybe D60LFa !!) I'd say plain old D40LFrs are most likely Update!#17 (A Classic) Might have been retired #15 (1993 D40LF) Is being sent back to NFI in Winnipeg for refurbishment. A rumour is that BT might buy buses from Vancouver after the 2010 games. Only buses Vancouver will be selling after the Olympics are 1991-1992 D40HF and 1990 D60HF. They have zillions of miles on them and not many smiles left in them.
BusRider
http://newflyer.com/index/2010_01_15_fourt...ers_and_backlog Brandon Transit will be getting 7 D35LF(R?)'s. These will be the first D35LF(R?)'s in Canada! Brandon Transit in Brandon MB has ordered 7 35-foot and 4 40-foot diesel buses
Board Admin A. Wong Posted January 17, 2010 Board Admin Report Share Posted January 17, 2010 They will probably be D35LFRs. New Flyer is not manufacturing the old style anymore after the 2009 model year apparently.

BusRider
The 2 buses running on the festival charter routes are 10 and 11. Hope they get bigger buses for tomorrow. (You know, so you don't get the sardine treatment.)

BusRider
Â Probably using them to show off the newest in the fleet.I'm pretty sure that's what was happening. Although they had 44 waiting in case they needed a extra.
BusRider
This might be just a rumour but I heard from a driver that when the D35/40LFR's come there will be a "Welcoming Party". Free food and drinks, and the buses will be on display.
BusRider
Apparently there will be changes to route 3 and 7. No word on what those are yet.
