I created this because Winnipeg and Brandon are 200km apart. Doesn't sound like an "and Area" to me.

This area is for General Discussion and Photos of Brandon Transit. (Or just an area for me to spout off in.)

I heard from a driver that Brandon has ordered up to 4 new buses from New Flyer. These buses could possibly be D40LF or D40LFR. According to the driver the buses might arrive early next year.

Uh oh.... There goes last remaining Brandon Orion I? I wonder what else is up for replacement. I suppose The Classics and the 1994-95 D40LF's?

The Classics and the Orion I are probably going but The 1993 and 1995 D40LF's are probably staying.

Update!

#17 (A Classic) Might have been retired

#15 (1993 D40LF) Is being sent back to NFI in Winnipeg for refurbishment.

A rumour is that BT might buy buses from Vancouver after the 2010 games.

Turns out all the Classics are in service but there is one mysterious one sitting behind the garage.

Hmmm... I am not sure if I recall they had a #17 previously. Probably just don't remember it at the moment. So are in service and there may be a fifth one?!? Interesting! Will check that out next week!So if I have this correctly, Brandon has 4 Classics numbered 17, 18, 19, and 44?

They have 5 from looking at the wiki.... 16, 17, 18, 19 and 44. So maybe a unit is out of service or perhaps they indeed got a sixth Classic.

Right (17,18,19 & 44) and also there is no unit 16.

The wiki says....

Who knows tho?

Next time take a photo of the builders plate on the bus. It's located beside the front steps of the bus and make sure we can read the VIN number. I believe that bus was from Grand Rapids and it was in Ontario for a short time.

So, the current fleet list ??;

#16,17,18,19,44 MCI Classics; various years

#15,45,49,50 New Flyer D40LF

#42 Orion 1; still active?

4 eldorado Ez Riders? ... assume #51-54?

and cutaways.... 1-5?

How are the Aerotech Cutaways working? I work for Calgary Transit, I think 1863-1884 are identical to 1-5. Quite a few issues with some of them. Ez Riders identical to CT 1600 series... fun to drive, but a few minor issues. How are they working for BT?

Classics: 16,17,18,19,44

D40LF: 15,45,49,50

1st Gen Nova: 46

Orion I: 42

Eldorado Ez Rider Max II: 9,10,11,12

Cutaways: 1,2,3,4,5

Handi-Transit Cutaways: B5,B6,B7,B20

They are working pretty well 10 but it's having suspension problems and 1 is breaking down alot. Also 15 is waiting for parts.

Where are the Classics used? Are they spread randomly or only used in University service, or school service?

It may come as a surprise to you we have no school charters ran by city transit. The BSD does all of that. The Classics are used on route 11 & 12 for industrial service to the maple leaf plant east of the city and as spares if a bus breaks down.
